In the name of God Amen the sixteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven I William Carling of Greygarth in the township of Laverton, parish of Kirkby Malzeard and county of York being of sound mind and memory, but duly mindful of my mortality do make this my last Will and Testament at the same time revoking and making void all and every will and wills, legacies bequests and executors by me in any way before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament, which is as follows
First I give and bequeath unto my sister Isabella Cundall [the wife of Thomas Cundall of Howden near Clitheroe in Craven] the sum of five pounds sterling to her, her heir or assign
I give and bequeath unto my nephew Charles Lofthouse of Greygarth, shoemaker [the son of the late John Lofthouse of Greygarth] the sum of three pounds sterling to him his heir or assign. Also I give and bequeath unto the said Charles Lofthouse aforesaid my bedstead, feather bed and bedding.
I give and bequeath unto my nephew Michael Lofthouse [the son of the late John Lofthouse] the sum of fifty pounds sterling to him his heir or assign
Also I give and bequeath unto John the son and Dorothy, Frances and Mary the daughters of the late John Lofthouse aforesaid, each the sum of six pounds sterling to them their heirs or assigns
And I give and bequeath unto my brother Isaac Carling whom I likewise constitute make and ordain the sole executor of my ready money out on security, clothes and all other personal estate and effects thereby and therewith to pay all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and the before mentioned legacies or money payments to be paid by my executor Isaac Carling three months after my decease

On which day personally appeared Isaac Carling the within named executor and was duly sworn well and truly to administer the goods chattels and credits of William Carling the Testator of the will hereunto annexed and truly to perform the same Will and so forth and that at the time of his decease the whole of the goods chattels and effects of which he died possessed did not in their real value amount to the sum of three hundred pounds
